Steinway Lyngdorf Digital Link

Steinway Lyngdorf Digital Link

The Steinway Lyngdorf Digital Link is a proprietary encrypted high-resolution connection for audio as well as control signals.

This technology maintains full resolution of the new high definition audio standards throughout the entire audio system. Unlike most other digital connections, the Steinway Lyngdorf Digital Link keeps the high definition audio stream fully in the digital domain. Combining it with RoomPerfect™ and True Bass Steering bass management ensures razor-sharp dynamics and unparalleled realism. The audio signal is encrypted to conform to HDCP standards for digital signal distribution.

Looking at the audio stream in a complete system setup, the Steinway Lyngdorf Digital Link makes it possible for signal processing to operate across components. In other words, all signal processing is handled as a unified whole, regardless of the physical housings. We can take RoomPerfect™ automated time alignment as an example. In order for RoomPerfect™ to optimize audio performance in the room, the loudspeakers must be time-aligned according to distance to the listening position. Consequently, the Model P1 calculates the time delay for the speakers, after which the parameters are sent to the amplifiers along with calculated speaker crossovers, etc. The actual processing is then handled in the dedicated amplifier, making the speaker setup active.
