Steinway Lyngdorf Model D Music System
Developed and manufactured by Steinway Lyngdorf under the Steinway & Sons brand, The Model – D Music System is the culmination of painstaking research and development in both electronics and in the acoustic performance of amplifiers and loudspeakers.
The Model – D (named after Steinway’s concert grand piano) Music System is the first completely digital, ultra-high-end audio systems. Each speaker tower has a solid aluminum casing and weighs 174 kilograms, so it will not vibrate when sounds pour from the four 12-inch drivers, two 5-inch midranges and single air motion transformer based tweeter.
The system can reproduce a full symphonic orchestra with no compromises in sound. It can blast that sound in all directions, since the speaker towers are open at the back. To make sure they still sound good throughout every corner of your preferred listening room, Pianoforte will send a sound technician to install the system, then take a mike reading from the couch (or wherever you will listen to music the most) followed by random readings throughout the room. The RoomPerfect™ technology then creates a 3D model of the surroundings, and adjusts its output to ensure the best sound quality over the widest possible area. Such remarkable sound quality puts any music collection in the peculiar sport of having to live up to the system.
Being a CD-based, integrated, all-digital system, one expects the Model D to be cold-sounding and unfeeling of the music it is representing. On the contrary, besides reproducing music precisely as it was intended, it is very musical indeed.
The level of tonal purity is quite sensational, and every string of every instrument in the soundstage leaps out of the speakers. Dynamics are a huge part of the system’s repertoire as well, with full orchestral climaxes punching you in the face, and leaving you with an involuntary grin to show for it. The sense of scale is startling, while the pace, rhythm cleanliness and depth of the bass extension, remind you that the gargantuan speaker units – all 174 kilograms and 2 metres in height, are huge for a reason.
Despite their size, their bases are designed to yield slightly in the vertical plane, so as to avoid transmitting vibrations into the floor. This system is the world’s first integrated, fully digital music system, developed and manufactured by Steinway Lyngdorf. This innovative new Danish company is a collaboration between Steinway & Sons, maker of the world’s finest pianos and Peter Lyngdorf, Europe’s pre-eminent audio manufacturer and it sets a new high for the audio industry.
This system is developed for the home as well as for the very top end commercial properties and it has swiftly become a must-have for the music lover. This is in a class of its own, a new, ultra-prestige category, the culmination of painstaking research and development in both electronics and acoustic performance of amplifiers and loudspeakers.
